How International Real Estate Buyers Search Online

September 12, 2011 11:56 am Published by

Predicting how people will find you by targeting the right keywords can be a challenging exercise. It’s a big deal because buyers are spending more time than ever researching the market before making such large purchase decisions. According to Google in 2011, 90% of all consumers go online to research products prior to making large purchases.

E360 recently sat on a real estate internet marketing panel hosted by the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce and when I asked the 100’s of attendees if their projects were affiliated with an internet marketing campaign approximately 75% raised their hand. Therefore, keyword targeting is particularly important for developments and reaching buyer interest.

This month E360 created a long-term partnership with the Google Adwords team on a variety of real estate pay-per-click campaigns. Over the phone they indicated a lack of interest by many marketing agencies to target Spanish speaking people in Latin America. E360 has always seen this as an opportunity. Performing international real estate keyword targeting research in other countries adds an additional cultural dimension providing opportunity.

Of course there are the traditional tools Google offers you for keyword targeting like Adwords keyword tool and Google insight for search but how do you to give it the predictable depth needed for international real estate internet marketing.

Using the previously mentioned tools will help you create an initial keyword list. For the international real estate sector, we are filtering by countries and languages to further qualify our keyword list. A best practice we perform is ad hoc interviewing with people who could be potential clients or customers to learn what keywords they are using to find your project. Other tactics involve reviewing industry events and there websites to see what keywords they are using to promote themselves. Overall our general rule to keep in-mind is you should review your keyword targeting list on atleast a monthly basis.
